Helpful tools - Galion Age of Empires ECG Club

These are the things that are suggested by me to play Age of Empires ECG:


Resource counters:


Cheapest:

Paper and Pen  (fastest to use)(Suggested)


Easiest to make:

Paper slid counters (see Flies in my soup) 
New counters are in the AOE-ECG expansion (nautical) starters.  


Easiest to find in store:
	
Small beads.  Try to find 4 different colors for each resource.
You can get about 500 for as little as $1.00.


Tokens

One idea would be marbles with one flat side, four colors for each need - vilagers, military, monks, damage.

Another idea would be poker chips.  Many people think this is a better idea.  It might be hard to find four colors.

And yet another would be dice.  Put the number on the die that is the same as the number (people) on the unit face up on the card.  
You can use different ones for military (6 sided), monks (6 sided), viligers (6 or 20 sided), and damage (20 sided).  If you need 
more dice, they are easy to get at gaming stores, and origins (and other gaming conventions).


Other things

I would suggest getting some soft card sleeves.  They will keep the cards in good condition and will make it easier to shuffle the decks.

Instead of soft card sleeves, you might want to try deck protectors.  The protect the cards more, and you can get them with different 
colored backsides for the different ages.

One Die (you don't need two dice).  This is used for many event cards, boats and monks.
